111 The social life of an undergraduate at a large university such
111 as =Cornell can be, =um, very, =um, can, can, mostly be based on,
111 is mostly based on a group of friends who you have. =Um, a lot,
111 =um, big, big percentage of students join fraternities and
111 sororities their freshman year or their sophomore year and that
111 becomes the area where they stay in their social crowds. =Um,
111 sororities and fraternities put on big parties and they kind of stay
111 in their social crowds. =Um, sororities and fraternities put on
111 big parties and they tend to stay, =um, you, know, the people who,
111 who =um, the people who, your, in your sorority and fraternity with
111 are, the, most of the people who you, you will tend to socialize
111 with. =Um, big parties are, very popular, especially your freshman
111 year when you're new to the school and, that's a very good way of
111 meeting people and getting to know, the =Cornell atmosphere or
111 any college atmosphere, I suppose. =Um, as you get older though,
111 the big parties are not as attractive as they used to be. =Um,
111 bars are also a very large part of socializing and, =um, many
111 many groups of friends go together or maybe one or two friends
111 and, you, often end up having a, =oh, a =un, a big, a a lot of
111 people down in the bars. Since they're very popular down in
111 =Collegetown or down in the town of =Ithaca. If the student has a
111 boyfriend or a girlfriend, that usually takes up the time of the
111 social life of this student. =Um the boyfriend or the girlfriend
111 usually, they become very, you know, =um, exclusive and its
111 just of two of them who, who will go out. It's not so much that,
111 the student, this boy or this girl, =uh, =um goes out with his
111 friends, =um, as much as he would have, if he or she did not have a
111 boyfriend or girlfriend. There's not much dating, in, at =Cornell.
111 It's not, an atmosphere conducive to dating. =Hum, =hum, =um
111 there, =t, the only things really to do are, to go to the movies
111 or to, to, bars. There's not a lot of things, that, =um, people
111 just don't date. There's just more, of boyfriend or girlfriend
111 type of, =um, type of, a, type of relationship. Most of the time
111 you're spending with your groups of friends who you have made.
111 =Um, and it's, a lot of it is, =um, just, =hum =hum, going out
111 with your big groups of friends or, =um, a small group of friends.
111 =Um, =um, =um, sorotities and fraternities, as I said before, =um,
111 make up a large percentage of the student population, =st, and
111 many of the large parties put on are put on by sororities and
111 fraternities which crowds and@
